READ: The New York Times is redesigning its website.

While some (fewer and fewer) publications are working hard to push print, The New York Times is on par and redesigning its website. I remember, of the publications I read, The Times was the first to limit “free-reads” and offer a subscription plan. If you want good content, you have to pay. And that’s A OK. I’m super excited to check out the new website; it looks clean and very reader friendly. I read online A LOT. So it’s really nice to see a major online publication consider the user’s reading experience. It’s important. Yes, I’ve worked in publishing, and I will be the first to say strong factual writing is an absolute must, but in the world of e-readers and all things digital it is also very important for readers to feel as though the experience of reading, skimming, and clicking through articles is organic. Now, if only Amazon could jump on the bandwagon.
